NE Ideas??

so I have been spending most of my time fixing reviving and keeping alive my f2. when I got her she was in pretty bad shape and she was stolen from me and fixed up again.. but now I have made her a well working machine. so now i have made up a list of things i would like to do to her. 1. Im thinking about putting in a HRC racing airbox, or maybe pods. 2. mod the front and rear sprocket and chain, I was thinking -1 in the front and plus 2 in the back. from what I read that works well. but I cant get a chain size. 3. change the f2 speedo over to a f4i speedo. I was hoping someone had a step by step on that to help me. I have seen it done on youtube so it is possible. 4. now this one I have had only silence on, which is weird because it seems like everyone would do it. I want to change my ignition to a barrel key ignition. itsa round key instead of a ignition that anyone can jam a screw driver down. 5. does ne1 know of a good stub exhaust? that fits our stock pipes?

so thats my project I would like to begin, but not till I have an idea. the rest of the stuff like re jetting I will have specialists do. only because I dont have the tools.

Not sure what a HRC airbox is. Never seen one. I would NOT do pods unless you are using flatslides. I would just keep the stock unmolested airbox and use a stock air filter. You will thank me later.

That gearing may work if you are stunting. Not what I would do. Remember -1 in front is like going up 3 in the rear.

-1/+3 and you will have a wheelie machine.

I got this exhaust on mine. 9", which is pretty stubby, and sounds amazing

+1 on what Duck62 said, regarding the pods, and the HRC airbox.

Yeah, this has been done many times, search the F2 forum for "F4i gauges" or "F4i guage swap" or something like that, and you'll find plenty of posts on it - what I know, is that you'll need the sprocket sensor, and maybe the front sprocket cover (can't remember), and you might need to install a speedo healer, and toy around with that... honestly, a KOSO RX-2N would be simpler, better looking, and more accurate with regards to the speedo, without much monkeying around, but that's just my opinion.

One special D-shaped tool for the pilot screws ($7 to $12), and screwdrivers are all the tools you need to work on the carbs, well, and of course, just basic wrenches, and allen wrenches for getting the body work and tank off.

+1000 on what the others said about not running pods...

MuthanLaw 02-28-2013 09:54 PM

kk

soo no pods or airbox mods....
I do like that koso tach too, i have been looking for a healer for a f2 but have only been getting as close as a f3 healer for the tach. the carb tool is kinda cheap but I dont wanna spend the money on a carb-syncronizer. just becausethe one I trust the most is like 600 dollars. plus I need it dyno-ed to see was jets I need for the k&N air filter, and exhaust. I will take a look at the exhaust in a second. but I was hoping to find a stubby for it. Iam kinda goin more for the stunt bike, plus I like the acceleration part because I dont really go top speed but I like taking off fast.

-1/+1 here and it moved the cruising speed for around town into a little fatter part of the torque curve. Gives me a bit more jump rolling into it without having to constantly be shifting.

There is no speedohealer for the F2, cause our speedo is cable driven off the front hub, no electronics involved. That's the biggest hurdle in moving to the F4 cluster, as you have to modify a sender unit to work. Usually I think that there are old VFR senders built into the front sprocket cover that work - but don't quote me on that.

so is there a digital koso tach that ne1 recommends that know it works or has installed it themselves?

Duck62 03-07-2013 06:43 AM

The Koso series works pretty good. I have a RX2NR for a race bike. It has no speedo or turn signals or warning lights..other than a shift light and a temp gauge.

JNSRacing 03-07-2013 08:23 AM

+1 On Koso, it's excellent stuff - the RX-2NR is very basic, and a lot cheaper than the others - it's has less functionality than the others, but for racing it's got what most guys need.

If you want something that gives you all the info your stock cluster has, and a little more, go with the RX-1N, it's got a dial tach, digital speedometer, odometer, trip meter, clock, neutral and high beam indicator lights, fuel guage (that you won't need), and in addition to water and oil warning lights, it has a water temperature display in digital format as well - you can pick

Most racers I know, that have installed aftermarket guages, run Koso units.

PM me your email address, and I'll send you the a copy of the latest catalog.
