Kickstand bypass?
I have a few irritating questions.
1. Is there a way to bypass the kickstand saftey switch? Mine keeps shorting out and I am unable to find a new one. 2. By the battery box where all the wires connect together there is a white one with two male ends coming off of the frame's harness, where does the female mate to it come from? off the motor, trans, radiator, japan? I have been over every inch of this bike and have been unable to find it. Any help on either of these questions will be greatly appreciated. |
3 wires in the side stand switch harness - should be:
Green - Ground Yellow/Black - Down signal Green/White - Up signal Connect the Green (ground) to the Green/White, make a jumper, whatever - as long as you ground the Green/White and isolate the Yellow/Black, then you will have bypassed the sidestand safety switch. You will lose your sidestand indicator light function on the instrument cluster. |
Oh - and I can't find on the schematics where there should be any solid white wires in a F2's harness in that area. I also can't locate any wiring that represents what you're seeing. I'm wondering if it may be something either aftermarket, like remnants of a lighting kit or alarm system, or maybe some wiring not used in a non-california bike?

The by pass doesn't work. The oil liight and nuetral light are not on and for whatever reason they are not on it will not allow the bike to even attempt to start.
Thanks for the help though. |

Thanks for the help though. I just went out to my bike in the parking lot (streetfighter mode means I can get a the internals easily) and tried it by unplugging the green plug in front of the battery. Nothing worked. Now that I've come in here and started typing this, I realized my test was pointless, cause I was putting a jumper on the end that ran to the kickstand switch - not the side that runs to the ICM, which is not going to affect anything, of course. When I get home, I had another project planned, I'll dig into this and see what I can come up with. |

Would this issue be caused by a bad R/R? Having the headlight, brake light, turn signals, horn work but nothing when I press the starter button. I unplugged the R/R and plugged it back in and the oil light and neutral light were lite up on the cluster press the starter button there is a snap/pop the oil light and neutral light go out and nothing to the motor. Checked all fuses and they were fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g2...l/DSC04625.jpg Yes, a bad reg/rec could cause it to the main fuse to blow, but it would most likely do it when you switch the bike on. Sounds more like a wire shorting to ground. You'll have to diagnose and eliminate causes one by one. |
