it as soon as it at half a tank when the issue starts. the petcock looks like its broke and a pair of pliers have been used to turn it. My wife works at the local bike shop in the parts department so i am having her order everything that i could see that it needs for right now i just can't figure out why this would be an issue on a half tank. is there a better petcock i could try.

Rotate the petcock **** in a counter-clock motion till it stops, it will be in the on position.

Sounds like the reserve pick-up is clogged and/or not being accessed.

I would order an entire replacement petcock. They should be cheap enough
that it won't be worth rebuilding, from your description.

It's a basically bolt-on replacement, although I would take the time to rinse
any debris, etc
from the tank with kerosene, while you have the tank drained for the replacement
procedure.

You might score a better deal (even with the wife's discounts), by using e-bay for a used one.

Good luck, Ern

i'm thinking you get down to reserve and the "ON" position is ran out. is the gas below the air box hump in the tank. that's about where mine needs to be turned on "RESERVE" which is turned clockwise completly. if it doesn't pick up there the it's probably the petcock. make sure you have all three rubber hoses hooked up too.

and yes it is when it gets just below the hump it would bog down like it was starving for fuel. i will snap some pics of the horrible job on this petcock it looks like its been chewed up.
