Ideas on getting my bike inside my apartment
I live on the third floor and have a small elevator. I will measure just to be sure but I am confident that with the front end and rear wheel removed and I guess the subframe if necessary, I can roll my bike into my elevator on a dolly.
There's a door in the back leading to my basement, but there are a couple small sets of stairs (3 and 4) that I'll have to tackle. Any advice on a good jack/dolly that might also serve the purpose of elevating my bike for future maintenance?
I'm thinking:
1) Roll the bike down the stair sets on a ramp
2) Take the front end and rear wheel off in my basement <-- (most) awkward part
3) Take the elevator
I also want to find a good way to elevate and stabilize the frame while I'm doing all the work.
One side question is: Does anyone know the approximate weight of an f2 engine?
I really need to move somewhere with a garage...
...Thanks

Take pictures, if not video. Should be a wild trip haha.
You could Wheelie it around, ist not that heavy and should have plenty of vertical space, bike isnt much taller then a person standing up.
As for a dolly to give you height/stability/ and rollability (dont think thats a word) especially down a flight of stairs, thats a bit harder...
You could probably just roll the bike down the stairs, stand it up turn it, roll it down the next flight Etc etc. then prop it up on a milk crate...
milk crates... mother natures motorcycle stands.

You mentioned the elevator was small, but you didn't give dimensions...if this is an old, not very often "properly" checked and serviced elevator, I would make sure you're well under the weight limit!
By the way, is this the bike you got all the stuff from me for? I'd love to see some pics of how it's lookin'!

Sprock that's what I'm thinking. Any recommendations on brand or specific dolly? I was looking at this one.
I don't think I'm strong enough to control the bike when it's wheelying around. I could do it as long as I didn't accidentally lose the center of balance, but without a hand brake to control the back wheel...I dunno it just sounds bad.
I will check the weight capacity of the elevator.
