Flooded cylinder

I was riding my 91 f2 about a week ago, and I was turning it around and it stalled. I couldn't get it started and it reeked of gas so I got it back to my house, let it sit for about 5 minutes and it started up a bit sluggishly. after that I left it idle and it idled great for about 3 minutes, and then it would choke its self out if I didnt keep it above 2500 RPM. Again, it reeked of gas. Then I noticed that there was gas running out around the header pipe where it enters cylinder 4. I figured the float was stuck so I pulled the carbs and cleaned them. Put it back together and the same thing happened. Decided that I would do a more comprehensive clean, so I pulled them off again and cleaned EVERYTHING. All the jets came out, the whole 9 yards. Put them back on, same thing, except it sounds terrible and wont run without the choke all the way on. Cylinder four still has gas running out around the header pipe. The bike has 8500 miles on it, and it was running great 2 weeks ago. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Aaron

Pouring out, or oozing out somewhat around the header pipe? I mean that sounds super odd - means that fuel is completely filling a 150cc combustion chamber? That's over a half cup of fluid volume. Not to mention the hydrolocking that should be happening with a filled cylinder. another thing - if a significant amount of fuel is coming out around your header - you need new header gaskets cause you've got an exhaust leak.

Sounds like you have either a stuck float, even though you have been through the carbs, or you don't have spark or good spark on cyl# 4. Pull the #4 plug - it is most definitely fouled if there's that much unburnt fuel in the cylinder. Replace it or clean it up and test that you have a nice fine blue spark before reinstalling the plug.

The float needle and seat are WEAR PARTS on most bikes, although i don't hear about it all that often on the F2. if your needle and seat are worn, there's no stopping that gas!

You will need to changed your fuel tainted oil, too.

Oozing out somewhat. It does seem very strange. I just bought this bike, and I just replaced the plugs. It ran a lot better, I let it idle for a while and took it out for a fairly easy ride but it still seemed around 80 percent. Maybe less.

The float needles have a slight ring around where they seat. Not a ridge, just a slightly darker colored ring.

I figured that, but I decided I would save money and wait until it was running good to change it so i didn't have to change it multiple times. Today however, I decided to check the status regardless, because white smoke was pouring out of the pipe when I started it, and then I noticed that there was oil coming out where the slip on couples with the headers. Needless to say I was pretty mad seeing this. So I checked the oil, and it was wayyyy high. I drained out around 4-5 quarts to get it to the full mark. Understandably the oil was barely thicker than gas. runs better, but the oil is still running out of the pipe, and its still pouring smoke out. Would this have blown the rings completely? Or is oil just still leaking through the rings just because of how watered (gassed) down the oil is? The rings are obviously worn if its getting into the cylinder at all, but would that much extra oil completely blow them? I'm crossing my fingers that there not blown. I am going to go get an oil change and see if its still blowing into the cylinders with the correct viscosity. And now that I think about it, that might be a bit of oil leaking out around the header pipe in cylinder four, not gas. regardless that spot of oil around the header hasn't gotten any bigger.
