Clutch problems

Ok so i put in a new clutch lever because my old one was hanging loose, when this one was put in i was expected it to be tight and what not but that wasn't the problem apparently there was another problem, my clutch cable was messed up that's why it was so hard to pull in and i never knew what a real clutch lever was supposed to feel like till after my mechanic put some spray to loosen it up but he said i still need a new cable. so not only am i going to get the cable i would also like to know from someone here why is my clutch slipping? i know it's not me or anything it's the bike because let's say i'm in 3rd gear i go to 4th then it revs supper loud and makes this pin in a bottle noise but it still goes to 4th i've realized? what do i need to get to keep it from slipping?

First get the clutch cable replaced and adjusted properly.
There should be about 1/4-3/8" of slack in it, when it is properly adjusted.

Then check to see, if the clutch is still slipping.

If it goes away, your cable may have been hanging up and/or
improperly adjusted, hence, may have kept the clutch from fully engaging.

If it doesn't go away, then your clutch is worn and needs,
either new springs or plates (or both).

Hope this helps, Ern
