Wanted - 2X F2 or F3 project bike for track use
 

New member here, looking to locate a pair of F2s or F3s that can be a project for my son and I. Bikes will be track only, and we're not afraid of a little work, so we'll consider bikes in any and all conditions.

Longtime Honda rider, have been away from bikes for a while and looking to satisfy the next generation's need for speed in a safer way than i went about back in the day.

edit: Search is open to RRs as well, F2 or F3 is going to take a huge stroke of luck to find for the right price.

I think your best bet is going to be E-bay, Gumtree or Craigs list.

It's a great thing you're doing for your son/daughter BTW and a great way to keep the kids out of trouble, channelling the energy in a positive way.

Thanks for the response. I'd prefer to avoid building one from scratch as piecing them together is way too expensive. If possible, i'd like to try find one with some mechanical issue and fix it, no stranger to that.

I've rebuilt a couple of V45 Magnas, the F2 in my avatar pic, a few F2-F3 swaps, 1st gen 900 RRs, and a couple of FZRs and ZX-11s. No stranger to turning wrenches, and all of those projects were pre-internet.

I'm scouring craigslist and E-bay, will have to look into gumtree as I've not heard of that site.

jnsracing had a deal a year or two ago that you would have loved. Complete race modified bike, spare parts, stands, and piles of other stuff for like $2k.

I noticed that in a previous search, great deal but way too nice of a bike for us to be starting with, and I don't plan to ever put either of the bikes on the street. I've seen a few deals go by for $350-400 on 30k mile F2s that needed some work, but i've been a day or two late on each of them.

So, ended up with a '98 F3 for my son's track bike, and a '91 F2 for mine. The F3 needs minimal work, F2 will be the real project. I'm sure I'll be posting up some parts wanted messages shortly.

Right off the bat I know I need the upper fairing stay, and the lower right cowl stay for the F2, tires, chain & sprockets for both bikes. Let the fun begin...
