Hello, I have a 1996 CBR 600 F3 and every time I put on the biking gear, it cuts off. The kickstand light turns off when I pull it up, and it still cuts off, so I pulled off the clutch switch jumped the wires, and it started up in gear. So what do I need to do? I already replaced the clutch switch, and it still has the same problem, so I don’t know, and I believe the neutral switch is fine.

Hello everyone, I’m trying to diagnose my 1998 Honda CBR600F3. The bike starts for a few seconds and then shuts off, and sometimes when it does run it blows black smoke, but most of the time it just cranks (and sounds normal while cranking). Fuel is visibly dripping into the airbox from one side in large amounts, and I can also hear fuel moving when I turn the key or try to start it. The carbs were checked and look clean visually, and it will run briefly on starter fluid before dying again. The bike sat for about a year before this started happening, though I’m not sure of its exact condition before that. I’m trying to figure out if this is a carb float/needle issue, vacuum issue, or something else common on this model before I tear deeper into it. I’ve used ChatGPT to help narrow things down, but I want real mechanical input. I also have a picture of the airbox leak if that helps.

Questions about F3 (1998) with F2 fairings

Hi! I posted a few times this winter about my non-running f3. Ive now finally gotten it running, and found some really cheap fairings on facebook since mine didnt have any. They were f2 fairings but bolted right on since I also got the f2 front fairing stay. However I did not get any rear fairings in the purchase, only front+side fairings as well as the taillight and its bracket. Problem is that the f2 bracket does not bolt onto the bike, the screw holes are 1/4’’ wider on mine.

To complete the fairings Ive narrowed it down to two alternatives:

1. I get the f2 rear fairings. Question then is, do they bolt right on to the frame? Or do I need to modify?

2. I get the f3 rear fairings. Question then is, do they bolt onto the side fairings of the f2, or are the screw holes different. (Id also have to get the f3 taillight and stay here)

Has anyone seen this problem before? I’ve searched a bit but haven't found any clear advice.
