I have a 1987 CBR600F-H (US model) with erratic sparks coming off the left HT ignition coil. Coils, HT cables and plugs are new. I borrowed an oscilloscope and checked the signal from both the pulse coils. For the pulse coil trigging the right HT coil the wave pattern looked sound. The wave pattern for the other pulse coil was very erratic and compeletely different to the other. I'm now looking to replace both the pulse coils. There are a lot of used pulse coils on the web. If possible I want to have new pulse coils. Anyone that knows where to buy these coils? I'm also looking to replace the Spark unit (ICU). What type of Spark unit do you recommend as a replacement to the original Honda unit that I believe is obsolete? Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone,

I have aquired a 1990 CBR600f (last of the f1 models) and it hasnt ran since 2014 (allegedly) that being said the bike has been untaxed since 1998 so i suspect that is the last time it was on the road.

My goal at the moment is just to get the engine running.

I have purchased a new battery, taken the carbs off and cleaned the jets, floats, float bowls, slides and needles.

It has oil in it and it looks clean, i was planning to just chuck some fuel in it and see if it fires but im waiting on float bowl seals and a new ignition barrel as the key was lost. is there anything im forgetting or should do before attempting its first start?

Hello all,

I'm trying to work out the color scheme for my newly acquired CBR600F.

Currently, it is painted red, white, and a rather dark blue.

It's a 1990 model with stickers showing NH193P and NH193K color codes. It also has "Hurricane" written on the tank; I thought that was only for the American market. Is that correct?

Any help appreciated :)

Hello all!

I today, purchased a 87 hurricane and I am looking for advice to get it running.

Overall it looks in good condition, the wheels have been removed, along with the tank and fairings, but all appears to be there.

I was planning to change the oil, oil filter, spark plugs, air filter, and coolant and then see if it turns over. If it does I was going to chuck some fuel in and see if it fires.

Its been sat for 5 years, so while its got all the parts removed is there anything else I should do/check.

Many thanks in advance.

So I picked up the CBD in my profile pic for a good prove with 1300 on the odo. Dont know if it's true or not but it looks to be all original. But it just sat for a while. The tires are from 2007 so that should tell you how long it's been sitting 😂

So from where I picked it up to home was about 50 miles all 70mph highway . So I made the ride without a problem untill about 10 mins from the house. It starts acting like it's not getting fuel and stalling at lights but still starting back up and running fine. Untill I pulled in the driveway and it cut off and wouldn't fire when turning even after waiting a few hours just in case the fuel pump overheated.

So I bring it to a shop cause I know cars very well just not bikes.

They diagnosed it was in fact fuel pump burned out.
A few weeks down the line when they finally get a Honda branded OEM pump and brand new. Bike runs now but I get 4 miles from the shop the pump quits on me. So it goes back and they are able to replicate the same problem but at random Intervals varying between 5 miles and 20 miles are the high and low numbers.

Things checked and gone through have been for sure 100 % not the problem

Fuel pump is new and goes into overheat but waiting 5 mins it cools down and will start

Also the filter and lines are new

New voltage regulator/ stator (she said both but I talked to the tech and he said regulator)

They said they rebalanced the carbs and wanted a copious amount of money for them to rebuild the carbs . The bowls were clean no varnish at all and the floats and everything were fine. I'll attach some pics

The cdi was replaced by the previous owner and he also did a fuel pump.

So here's my question. If I were to completely just say replace the whole harness, with a new cdi again and a pump would that solve my problems?

The vent tubes are not blocked, everything is good said the tech.

Do you really think a carb problem could kill the pump or put added stress on it?

The bike runs great like had power and It felt right and responded when I did the 50 mile ride home .

And when I picked it up and made it 4 miles. The 2nd time.

Later this week I'm gonna get it back and ride it back and give a update if the problem still exists how he said he could replicate everything.there was a bubble in the front tire so I have to wait till they can get any tire that size in new or used to pop on it so I can ride it home. If I can't fix it I'm gonna sell it for what I paid and the 400 that's been spent on parts and labor from the shop and just break even or make grocery money for the week 😂

Please give me some heading and advise. I'm mechanically inclined and can follow any help or direction to look and test.

Oh please be nice this is my first post and I know nothing about the bike besides the odo saying 1200 on it 😂 Sorry the pics are garbage . The high res ones are too big to upload so I have screenshots for you

I have a CBR600F Hurricane production November 1986 and I’m wondering how many others have the pre-production models and how rare that might be.
Mine has 86,000 KM, it’s a Sunday rider and has most original plastics and OEM hardware, pearl white with red.
I couldn’t get any straight answers on how many released in November and December so if anybody had some input, I would greatly appreciate that.
