RE: Drag Times. Post em up here
Came from the races Friday night and STILL could not figure out why I could not beat my best times...Even with better, more dense air and same 60' times.. On the way home I decided to do some "playing" with my seat of the pants dyno....So I stayed in first gear @ about 9k rpm, let to about 1/4 throttle for about 1/2 a second then gooses it. Front end came up...Tried this @ 10k RPM, same result, again @ 11 same result, 12k Same result with slightly less force, 13k no front end coming up... Same with second gear, but couldn't pull it up EASILY @ around 12... I think I found my issue. Maybe it's that I'm shifting to late after the powerband drops off and by the time I shift into the next gear I'm near peak torque in the middle or end of my powerband... The gear ratios seem really close together, and IIRC the torque curve falls ahead of the HP curve, so next week I'm going to try shifting @ 11-11.5K thru the firsttwo gears and shifting @ 12k in the final gear to see if that helps my time any.... I'm thinking if I shift @ 11-11.5K that with the tight gear ratios, I should be shifting into around 8-9K in the lower closer together gears which puts me in the beginning of my "seat ofthe pants" torque curve.....We'll see what happens....and maybe next week I'll get those dam -.008,-.030,-.054, reaction times on the positive side.

Excellant, I played around a bit today west of town on my day off of work and tryed out a few things, and here is the result that I came up with. If I eat the tire up for just a few quick seconds, running the tire at 14-15 psi and only coming out of the hole at around 4K instead of 45or 5K tire sticks pretty good considering I'm not at the track and front tire only pulled up 6-8 inches which is much easier to handle when running throttle wide open. Not sure if my times will increase that much or not but I will keep you posted once I take er back out to the track on Wednesday Night. Thanks again and I think that you were right on when you said get the tire to stick and work it with the clutch and throttle. Big help I appreciate it. ALOT Thanks

Times look good!! Also nice to see some more Hondas at the track! I have run that Shinko for awhile now and for me 12lbs cold worked best at 68 inches. The tire realllly likes to be warmed up. do like a John Force burn out, you will not notice hardly any tire wear. As far as pulling the wheel, how low is the bike? The strap will help from transferring too much weight too fast, slowing the wheelies. Do you still have the stock rear shock? Some guys launch hard causing a "Pogo" effect pulling the front wheel up. Meaning the shock goes down fast and comes back up fast. Not sure how much adjustment the shock on the 1000 has but you want it to go down fast and back up as slow as you can get it. As far as the power range, not sure my 600 seems to like it around 13500 to 14000 and redlines at like 15200. Are you still foot shifting?

Yes I am still foot shifting, thought about going to air shifter but It is still my daily driver as well. The bike has been lowered about 4 inches but with the 6 inch extentions only lowered it about 2 or so. And yes rear shock is still stock and left at stock settings, I purchased this bike brand new 3 months ago and am pretty new to the whole drag racing scene as far as bikes go. What type of rear shock do you recommend going with or can I make adjustments on the stock spring? thanks for the help

Depends on how much u want to spend. Adjust it $0, re-valve it $350, good =ohlins $900, better=Hyperpro $1500. How serious u wanna get? I would talk to some experianced locals that could show u how toadjust it and keep it streetable. I still ride mine on the street but it is a little rough riding. I saw a guy in MS. with the same set-up u have only a air shifter extra, he was running 6.10 in the 1/8th. For only doing it for a few months, your pretty good at it already! And u want your front wheel in the air a little off the launch to transfer weight.
