Sprock

I can't find any pictures in his profile, either. Doesn't anyone read the rules?
There's a pic in the nomination thread, though, so I'll use that until he follows the damn rules. http://www.talksox.com/forum/attachm...s-facepalm.gif

As always.... if anyone wants a different picture of their bike posted up, just shoot me a PM with a link to it in your album and I'll change it. :)

Good luck, guys.

Hey all, first I'd like to apologize for the lameness of my photos - I just haven't taken a lot of pics of the bike since I finished the graphic kit install. all of my "good" pics are of the bike when it was ratty looking - go figure eh?

The basics - this 1992 F2 apparently had a prev. owner that cared for it very well, and apparently a couple of other p.o.'s that treated it like crap. The bike is painted in the Miguel Duhamel SJR paint scheme - the paint was very well done, no orange peel etc, and the graphics were all custom cut for back in that day....until someone decided to drop the bike multiple times. The guy I bought it from stated a variation on the classic excuse - "a friend's girlfriend laid it down in a parking lot".

Broken OEM fairings and windscreen, bent right side clipon, no front brake lever, squared off rear tire, v-shaped front tire, chain adjuster all the way back, and still slack in the chain. He wanted $1200. The engine sounded like a can of rusty nails, which I had researched on this very forum as an easy fix, and not uncommon for these F2's, especially with ~30,000 miles on the clock. I used the motor to talk him down to $800 and I rolled it onto my trailer as the proud owner of my first motorcycle.

Day one pics:

I used CBRF extensively to resurrect this thing - and as a guy that does almost all my own auto work, I stripped it down to the chassis for a thorough once over.

My biggest challenge was repairing the fairings. Since I found these were OEM plastics, and the china fairings have such a bad rep for fit, and I have always loved the SJR theme. I had some work ahead of me. Damage on the right side was through to the engine case, and the upper right side was shattered. After a lot of sanding, plastic repair, reconstructing and filling, I sprayed on several coats of colormatched paint and ended up with some very good matches for the left side paint. (who looks at both sides of a bike at the same time anyway?)

I sourced an all new graphics package from a place on the web - which I found out were done in the replica style of the actual race bike, not the F3. I had never laid vinyl like this before but Interwebs to the rescue, I got it done without destroying anything. Although - I'll point out that I screwed up the Honda logos at the bottom - they're on backwards. I've removed the "wing" portion of those once I realized my mistake. It was late, and beer was most certainly involved.

I've done very little to the bike that doesn't contribute to it going and stopping a little better. I'm not a "bolt it on cause I can" kinda guy when it comes to mods. Here's Details on what I've done to the rest of the bike:
1992 CBR F2
1994 forks, powdercoated black
1994/F3 passenger rearsets
Racetech fork springs
Fox TwinClicker2 rear shock
Vance and Hines exhaust - full header-back.
Custom Smokin' Joe's paint and decals
Framesliders
Double bubble tinted windscreen
K&N filter
APE Manual CCT
Factory Pro 4-degree Timing Advancer
NGK Iridium plugs
Competition Werkes stainless undertail/fender eliminator
LED rear turns & license light
