top speed
I ran this gixxer 1000 the other day from a rolling start ,i had about 4 bikes start on him . It took him about 4miles to catch and pass me,by then i was topped out at 168mph (no speedo healer jus going by what the clock said) i could not get any more out of the bike .My question is what are some of the top speeds you guys have clocked jus having the bike stock .
LOL......Me thinks your GPS is VERY optimistic.
Probably around 172-174 TOPS for a stock or near stock 954. If you beat a GSX-R 1000 from a roll he must have fallen asleep.......or your 954 is not very stock.
168 seems close to right IF your speedo was accurate.........but it's not.

True enough......a good rider from a stop can make up for a lot.........but he says they went from a roll..........unless it's a 20mph roll in 1st then there is little to no rider ability needed to pin it open and hang on. Stock for stock.........with close to equal riders from a roll in 2nd to eliminate any wheelies.......a 54 will get railed by a 1000. It's not even a race.......from my experience. I'm sure there are some weak 1000's and some strong 954's...and if they meet up it would probably be close.........I'm just going from my past experience with a friend who had a stock 954 and my stock 1000. He was lucky to stay with in one bike for longer than 2nd gear........as we went....the worse it got. Either way.....it doesnt reallly matter. I dont want to get into a brand war.......their both plenty fast.........

LOL........good. I can't say it's the most comfortable for an 800 mile day........but the seat is awsome. Still haven't had it to the track yet this year, but otherwise.......very nice. Amazing every time I open the throttle.......I often wonder to myself as I'm stuck in rush hour traffic with it.....why on earth anyone needs a 160+ hp bike. But I suppose.........just because you CAN is a good enough reason.
Easy to service.......no problem in 6k miles since I got it. 25k on it now and runs hard. The brakes leave a lot to be desired on it. They lack feel and the lever moves too far........as they heat up it gets worse. I've tried bleeding it and new pads......nothing makes it much better. A brembo radial master cylinder is on order along with some steel lines......that should fix it.......other than that it's been great.

Don't know if it makes any difference but it's a UK machine not US, I know they're tuned differently for emissions, it runs standard gearing with an Akrapovic system, PCIII and K&N Filter.
