Default Tires

I am about to replace my tires on my 03 954rr. Any recomendations on brand? Also I have a 190/50-17 on the rear now. Is this the correct size to have or should it be a 180/55-17?

190 is the factory size but,if you want it to turn in faster you can use the 180.Pilot powers is the way to go imo.

i had michelin pilots for my last set, and got about 4k out of them. they also wore a little funny, but that is more likely due to the area i'm in. SE NC is flat as the midwest and the only turns are on and off ramps for the highways. i'm trying out dunlop roadsmarts now that I got for about the same price as the previous set, and from what i've read/heard I should get at least 6k out of them. they also have the dual compound rear so I won't get a flat spot in the middle of the tire from all the straightness.

I use a 190 Micheline Pilot Power 2CT and they rock. I had a battle axe at one point on the rear, you can tell a differance. I still think it depends on how you want to ride and what suits you best. A buddy of mine rides the Roads and loves em, they're a bit harder, but he has a ZX-12 is 6'5" 287lbs. I think he adds traction to the tire because of his size. He seems to get more miles out of the roads, even though he's as aggresive as you can be on a ZX-12. Probably not much help, but just my opinion. My Pilot Powers boosted my confidence.

I have the pilot power 2ct's as well. They are great tires. I do alot of riding back to forth to work but hit a local quisties spot from time to time as well. They stick as hard as any other tire I've ever had on a bike and seem to be keeping their tread well. I have no complaints with them and would recommend them to anyone. The 190 rear is what came stock on my 02'. That's what I currently have on there. I can keep up with any of the guys that I ride with that have 180's but that's because we ride on the street, a track it would probably be a different story. 190's are great for average street riding.
