RE: third gear wheelies
Sitting or standing? Standing is easily doable on stock gears 1-4th gear, never tried 5th. I could not do sitdowns on stock gearing in 3rd, however i was still learning. I went -1 in front mid last year and i figured out 3rd gear sitting too. Definatly need to be a lil higher in the rpms, give it alil accelforward and slip the clutch and it should rise up for ya.

Actually, it doesn't matter if standing or sitting. I haven't graduated to trying stand-ups but I plan on it for this summer. Right now I just do sitting wheelies. Even when sitting and a high enough rpm, I've powered-up a wheelie in 2nd. But had no luck at any rpm with clutching or powering up a wheelie in 3rd. Also if there are any tips on standup's please feel free to leave them. And always, thanks in advance.

RE: third gear wheelies
is that so the clutch slips less?
I'm in the midst of learning 3rd gear. 2nd is cake for me on the freeway. 1st is too sketchy. I'd just like to have more versatility, so that's why I'm asking. Btw, I'm doing all standups.
I can't do a sitdown in 2nd gear on the freeway without a rear passenger.

3rd gear standup should come up really easy. Slipping the clutch is just that, just pull in the clutch just enough so that the rpm's will come up. Do not totally disengage it, i keep mine set really taut, i only have to pull it maybe 1/2 an inch or so, you want to disengage it as little as possible, let the rpm's climb a couple thousand and re engage it. Then make sure your weight is off the front and just stand up with the bike.
