Default Spark plug part number

Just wanted to let everyone know that the IMR9C-9H spark plugs don't have freaking caps! I'm sure I have 4 caps somewhere, since I never throw away the old plugs. I googled cbr 954 spark plugs and used the part number above that someone posted in a forum. Amazon even said that they were for my application.

So what is the NGK part # with caps?

I'm also wondering if anyone has used non-iridium plugs, if so what part #?

are you sure you need caps? my 929 doesnt use plugs with caps, and the same #plug. 954 should be the same i would think.

Really? I have never owned a bike or car that didn't have a cap on the top of the plug. So do the coils screw on or something?

they just push on the ends of the plugs. look in the end of the coil, it wont fit a cap. push in a plug and you will hear them click in. did your old plugs have caps?

lots of cars, usually older german, dont use caps.

The coil wires just push onto the plug and snap into place.

I haven't removed the old plugs yet. I just assumed they needed caps.

auto stores usually carry ngk plugs for our bikes... you may have to look it up as a 2004 or 2005 1000rr, but, it's all the same thing

They are much cheaper at an auto parts store as compared to a motorcycle shop.

I bought them on amazon.com. They were $10 each, because I'm a prime member. Plus I used my amazon visa card, which means I can use my points to take money right off my total. Cost me $30 for all 4 with 2 day free shipping.

I changed the plugs, but #1 and #2 headers are still cooler than the other 2. Next i'm going to swap coils. I'm numbering them from left to right looking from the front.

The tops of the plugs were corroded and #3 wasn't even fully seated, like barely on the plug. the corrosion really bothers me. I put dielectric grease on the new plugs, but the inside of the coil plugs look really bad. Does anyone even sell new coils for these bikes? All I see on ebay is used.

Here's a pic of the #2 plug coil. You can see the inside is gray, I assume from it arching and burning the rubber. 1 other was very gray as well.

Three of the plugs had some oil on the crush washer and threads, but none of the tips looked fouled.
