RPM's, power commanders, and the needed care and feeding
I have a couple of questions and figured it would be easier to do in one post. I'm new here and looking for as much info as I can get about my bike. Around town I usually cruise at 4k or so RPM but is there any harm done in running the 954's higher? Sometimes (well usually) I'll keep the RPM's around 5-6k on a twisty road or short (1hr) highway ride, is their any harm or benefit in that?
Also I just ordered a power commander 3 for it, does that mean I HAVE to get it dyno'd or can I just use the appropriate map (2 Bros slip on and soon to be ordered K&N air filter) and be good with that?

Oh NO. I said it once as a joke, but no way that is sticking to me lol. There better not be any mods with any bright ideas of messing with my name or title, ahem VP or anyone else for that matter

LOL..cool, I was starting to worry that I'd have to drop another couple bills to get it all right. Just in case though, about how much does a dyno'd tune cost on average?
On another note: I'm trying to keep the stock look of the bike while increasing the perfomance for a fairly low price. Does anyone have any suggestions on that as well? I've already done Galfer Brake lines and I'm putting Vortex clip-ons soon as well. The game plan is rear sets after this....probly an aftermarket seat so I can give up that hard plastic domanatrix version that comes stock.

A dampner is a great investment for these bikes. I think dropping 1 tooth on the front sprocket really wakes the bikes up nicely too. Performance wise a Hass elimintor is a good hp gainer for a moderate cost. I dont have the link handy, but you can google it, or i can post it up later.
