Default rear sprocket

I have an 03 954, and I have heard from a few people that going up 3 in the rear was the best thing you could do to this bike. What are your opinions on this subject?

personal preference. if you do go up 3 in the rear it will cut top speed to around 150-155. If you dont care about that then go for it. (not like you need to go that fast in the first place). Just remember its gunna be alot snappier and rev ALOT quicker. I.E its more wheelie prone than a liter bike already is. Depending on the mileage you might also want to replace the chain as well. Good Luck

I went down one in the front and up 2 on the back and it is awsome. I dropped about 30km ish off the top speed still fast enough to get away from certain people.lololol Going down 1 on the front is the same as going up 3 on the back as the front sprocket is a 3:1 ratio. It is a lot cheaper to go down one on the front and try it plus you don't have to change your chain.

i did -1 in front and +2 in rear, i liked it, but i also rode a 954 with stock and i liked that too so up to u, but once u go up in rear like that, your first gear will be alot more choppy with wheelies and also alot shorter, i would only go 2 up in rear unless u do ALOT of wheelies, i did 2 and then also 5 for stand ups, but for city riding, stay with stock or -1 in front and +2 in rear

The only thing that makes wheelies choppy is the lack of throttle control, not the bikes gearing
