I've been looking for a red oem seat cowl (FOREVER!!!), and I came across this one. I got really excited because it looks almost identical to the factory seat cowl minus the pad (which I'm not really a fan of anyway). So, perfect, right? Well, it's one of those cheap HONG KONG places that seems too good to be true. This cowl is half the price of all others I have come across but that might mean it is half quality.

ANYWAY, was wondering if anyone else is planning on trying them out or has already.

Hard to say, the one thing i dont like about it is they dont show the bottom side, for some reason that makes me a lil nervous about it.

 

I noticed that as well. I'm really worried that I will flip it over and it be a bare piece of plastic ... crap

 

Just ask them to send you a picture of the underside,I've seen a picture of it someplace and if I recall it looks the same as the factory one.

 

Thank you, Letsride. I will do that. However, I have already sent them one message several days ago w/ no response. I simply ask if there was hardware on the other side or if it was simply plastic ... three days gone by and no word. I will send another message tonight asking for a pic of the underside.

Unfortunantly, I am fully certain that they are selling the hell out of these things to people, like me, who have been wanting an affordable seat cowl but have not come across one. That means that they don't have to take time to send underside pics to one annoying customer if they don't feel like it. Nevertheless, we shall try and see how it goes.

So, no answer from Hong Kong, but they have had two different buyers leave positive feedback for their seat cowls in the last week. One buyer bought the same seat cowl we are talking about. Therefore, I have sent him a message asking about the cowl. However, the guy is from Germany so his answer will probably be along the lines of, "Heis ten shuk tin lies ton!"

But who knows, my investigation continues. Ultimately, I see myself being sucked into the possiblity and ordering one.

Damn my wishful thinking ...

 

For anyone still interested, I actually got one of the buyers to answer me back. He said that the fit was perfect and the underside did have the needed hardware, BBBUUUTTT, the paint did not exactly match.

This was the last thing I expected to hear. The paint looks right on in the picture, but who knows. Maybe his plastics were faded. I still can't decide if I am going to take the plung. I suppose I could have a shop repaint it if it didn't match. We'll see.
