I always just thought it was the thin metal in the headers, could be injectors too. I dunno mine makes some noise too, dont care.

here we go i drove this guys 954(it onlytook me longenough to convince himto let me ride it but yea he did)andhe swears to me that his 954 does not make any noises well i took it around the block and same thing like mine, same exact noiseand this guy sits back on it and goies 100 times around the block, i thought the neighbors are going to call cops on my by now...still even when i told him what is it and where the noise was coming from he did not hear it...wow!!
anyway this is something normal for a 954, there is no way that 10 ppl got the same problem.....OR MAYBEALL OF OUR BIKES ARE MESSED UP HE HE HE.....

The only time mine makes a tick noise is when it is cold started. I think this is due to the fact the oil is thick(cold) and does not get circulated to the valves like it does at normal temps. After it is warmed up, maybe a full min, it is tight... like a tiger!

i have the "tick" as well but & the only thing i can compare it to really is when ur valves need adjusted cuz thats how my crf powered quad sounded and then i went through the head and no more tick..

 

ok cool...but how do u explain when everyone has the same problem?!?!? only with 954...that is normal with 954... i talked to ppl who bought it new and ever since the first day the NOISE was there....well i could care less just go to higher rpms and the noise its gone ( exhaust two loud cant hear ****he he he)
