Default Make exhaust tip/opening smaller???

My 954 came with a custom shorty exhaust can that has a large diameter exhaust opening. No matter what i do with the PC3, the pipe pops continuously when you release the throttle from high rpms.

If i have the exhaust tip made smaller in diameter, will this somehow cure the popping and maybe add a little more back pressure?

Smaller opening would allow for more back pressure but have you block off the pair valves? That will help cure a lot of the popping.

Or drop a marble in the hose coming off the bottom right side of the air box.

Well i haven't blocked off the pair valves yet...i still need to order some block off plates. But i'll be going to a local muffler shop to have diameter opening of the can reduced.

Here's the can with it's huge opening....the can is about 9 inches in length and 4 inches in diameter.

LOL!!! Hey Conrice, so you like the look of the exhaust tip? Sorry but i just had it changed to a standard exhaust tip...I installed it back on the bike and revved it a bit...Man! It's even sounds louder now! But i haven't taken it for a ride yet to see if the popping was reduced...

Here's the new tip....

I think I would have left it like it was if it were me. I don't think that's going to solve the problem though. Let us know what you find out.

Changing the exhaust tip is going to do nothing, unless you make it smaller than the actually exhaust pipe diameter. It may change the tone some, but it will not stop the popping.

The pair valve lets fresh air into the exhaust stream, that's what causes all the popping. Put a marble in the hose, it will instantly solve your problem.

do you have actual pics where i should stick the marble in?
and this may be a stupid question, but won't there be any danger of the marble getting sucked in the engine or something???
