You should be able to remove the ignition cylinder (as long as the bars aren't in the locked position) and take it in to the dealership. There is a number on the inside of the cylinder that they will use to cut you a new key. I had to do this recently to a friend's 900RR that lost his only key, it was pretty simple to remove, but I have never looked into removing the ignition on my 954, so it could be a little more difficult on the newer bike. Another option would be to call a locksmith, but that might end up costing you more than it would to go into the dealership with the ignition cylinder...

That's what I was afraid of, well you can call a locksmith to do the work, but with the bars being locked I'm almost positive that the ignition cylinder is stuck in there too...kind of an anti-theft sort of thing so someone can't just pop it out if they try to steal it with the bars locked.

Figures. I guess I should atleast try to remove the cylinder. Any instructions? What the hell kind of bolt is holding it in there?

Edit: just did a search and it looks like I have to destroy the bolts to get it out then get new ones??? What a PITA!

I took the "trunk" cylinder out in hopes someone could do something with that but my local honda dealers are worthless. One couldn't find the code in the books.(probably cause its not the right code or something?) Anothers key cutting machine is broken. And finally the last place tried to tell me they didn't make the 954 in 2003...And none of them have blanks in stock. What a day.[sm=icon_flaming.gif] I'm taking it to a locksmith tomorrow..Maybe he will have better luck.

You can remove the ignition switch by removing the two bolts that hold it in place, once removed the whole cylinder will pop off,I believe they are either allens or torx bolts but don't remember the size.

It's easier with the ignition switch, when I lost mine I took both the ignition and trunk locks to see if they could be made at a locksmith. With the code on the back of ignition it took less than 5 min to make.
