License plate light
Does the tail light light up the license plate or is there a seperate light for that. Anyone got a pic of the license plate bracket because I am going to have to make one.
thanks |
RE: License plate light
I don't know... i don't use one. My plate is a little hard to see regardless of a light..

RE: License plate light
The stock LP light is separate from the tail/stop light. Don't have the LP bracket anymore, Competion Works Fender Eliminator (which actually uses the stock LP light to illuminate the LP).

RE: License plate light
Ya I don't care but in Va I have to get an inspection because the bike was salvaged. don't want to fail because of this.
Anyone got a pic of where the light is located. if it's seperate from the tail light where is it mounted? I have never seen my bike in one piece. I got all the hard stuff fixed. |
RE: License plate light
You can buy one of those small led's that mount to the license plate, just face it the direction of the plate and wire it up.

RE: License plate light
I have my plate mounted right under my tail light and the running light from the tail light is plenty to keep it visible. If you really want a white light on it to keep it illuminated then just wire up one parallel with the running light for the tail light. heres a pic of where mine is mounted. My uncle is a cop and he said it is fine the way it is as long as its visible.

RE: License plate light
Thanks for the pic looks good! I think I will just go with the tail light as the plate light. How is the bracket for the plate mounted? I was thinking of going to home depot and buying some hardware but I really don't want to drill into the tail piece.
thanks again |
RE: License plate light
I just drilled two holes into the plate and screwed it straight into the plastic undertail with some wood screws, Sorry i dont have a picture of it without the plate on, If you can not screw it in right there go to lowes/HD/Ace and pick up a long piece of metal that is about 1inch wide by 1/8 or 1/4 inch thick, its really easy to work with and makes nice mounting brackets for anything, just have to be a little creative.
