Default Headlight bulbs....

Okay so everything I'm finding says that our high and low beams are both H7 bulbs, and they look like h7 ... Ordered some H7 bulbs from amazon... their little "does it fit" tool even showed it was the right bulb ...

New bulbs arrive and the prongs for the connection are significantly closer to one another than the bulbs I took out.... 1/4" or so... Obviously, they wont plug in. The housing seemed a little small too so it didn't feel like it really seated in well.

My question... Are there different spec'd H7 bulbs that I need to make sure I get the right ones or is the set I ordered just made wrong?

You may notice there's little adapter piece between factory H7 bulbs and wiring harness?

No adapter, just the plug.. But looking at it, it almost looks like an h4 plug that is just missing the 3rd connection... However the bulbs in the housing don't have dual filaments so they aren't h4

You're missing adapter #4

Well that's dumb... And I feel dumb lmao.. At least I didn't throw the old bulbs away... The adapter is there, I just thought it was a part of the old bulb, which is what made me think the new one was so far out of spec

As soon as we're not covered in a sheet of ice and 24 degree temps lol

I haven't tested it myself yet. I did get led bulbs that were designed to be halogen replacements so the focal point of the bulb is the same position as the standard bulbs so it SHOULD be a clean cutoff line... But I wont know for certain until I get it out and test it.

When I swapped the bulbs on my Expedition I made sure to get bulbs designed as halogen replacements and The cutoff was clear and crisp and at the same point as the OE bulbs so I'm hoping for the same. I have no interest in blinding anyone or giving anyone x-rays in my endeavor to see well.

Which brand/model did you get? Looking for some too.

So far Philips Xtreme Ultinon is best, but I'm not spending that mind of money on bulbs!
