gearing on my 954

hi girls and guys, I have just bought a cbr 954 rr3 in mint condition, its totally standard, I had a cbr 918 and changed the front sprocket to 1 tooth less, can you guys help me out new to the forum thanks.

Sure, we can help you out. What's the question?

You can change the sprockets on a 954. -1/+2 is a fairly common mod.

In stock form (16/43) just didnt do it for me on the street. I went with (15/44) -1/+1 for street riding. It really woke the bike up! If you ride on the Interstate alot. It wont ruin your RPM range for cruising 60-70MPH. Depending on the Track and trackdays...I will run +2 and +3 final drive. 1st gear is never used and having a front wheel is optional.....Its very aggressive! Too much for street riding in my opinion.
Are you going to stay with 530 or drop to 520?

On my street 954,I run -1/+1 as well.On my track bike,I run with +4 on the rear.

My life Insurance policy wont let me run +4.......

That is some serious "get out of the corner fast!"

Lol ,this way I can beat the newer bikes. It's all about throttle control.

Are'nt you running a throttle kit on that bike? I'm too hamfisted to have that much discipline....I would loop it right after the flag dropped....

Oh you should try it. I absolutely love the Yamaha throttle mod.

I only get the front end off the ground on slow 1st gear corners, other than that I just roll it on very smooth.
