Default Is gas tank overflow straight pass through?

Hello, I put gas in 02 954, not full, but noticed fuel on the floor. Looked to be coming from the clear overflow.

Checked the cap area, nothing there. Sprayed pb blaster and nothing came out. Tried air and nothing makes it through.

1. Assuming air SHOULD be able to pass through that tube

2. if fuel is getting into that overflow tube but clearly isnt passing from up top... how is it getting there?

2a. is it possible overflow portion internal to the tank is split below a clog?

Welcome to the forum, overflow should be straight through, but not sure on that model.
One of the other folks should be along shortly to help you out.
Lets see some pics of your 954.

The area around the filler neck has a drain that goes through the tank and out a tube to under the bike. There is also a vent that comes from inside to vent fuel vapor/ EVAP emissions (depending on where your bike was made for)

I bought it in pretty bad condition, with a pile of parts. It runs, but is smokey. Trying to wrap up all the system bits, hoses, LEAK, Etc. Let it run through some heat cycles to see if it clears up. May need more involved work with valve adjustment, or?

Assuming this one from around the filler neck should be a straight through? So air should be able to blow through?

Yes, vent from around cap should go straight through. However this tube goes through INSIDE of tank. So it could have rusted out and has crack into tank. Which is where petrol is getting into drain hose and leaking out. Need to remove tank and disconnect all hoses and see which drain port is leaking.

So now, with air blow into the filler cap area vent, I can hear gurgling in the tank. Maybe something is just goofy with this thing.

That does sound like the pipe is cracked within the tank.

The more I dig into this bike, the more it wants to be parted out.
