Fuel injector cleaner problem
 

Several months ago I put half a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in my 954 and it caused the bike to run rich and it fouled the plugs. I put new spark plugs in asap which set me back $60. After i installed the new spark plugs the bike was still running rich (in the 2,500 rpm range) on the start up and when it got warm it went down to the mid 1,000s. About 100-200 miles later, I tried to start the bike and it wouldn't fire up. I've talked to a few dealerships and they said it might be a sensor or something is clogged. Any ideas?

I'm not familiar with 954s but in general a FI bike will idle high until it warms up. Not sure why you replaced the old spark plugs unless it was just time to do it anyway. A carbon fouled plug can be cleaned and will run fine.

Have you run all the gas out that had the injector cleaner in it? If not chuck that and put some fresh gas in.

As to why it's not starting now, could be a few things. Since you've had issues with fouling the plugs you might start there and see what they look like. Ignition issues can also be bad gas, low battery, valve clearance or throttle bodies not synced (kinda rare though).

If your new plugs are fouled and you've been running good gas pull the injectors and see what they look like. It's possible the cleaner dislodged some spooge and you have a clogged injector. I'm not feeling a clogged sensor ... dealerships tend to start with expensive stuff.

Most likely your Fuel Pressure Regulator is bad.

Prop up the gas tank and pull the vacuum line off the regulator on left side of fuel rail and turn on the key and see if fuel drips from the regulator. Does your bike smell like gas? Bad FPR will dump excess fuel into #1 and #4 cylinder and can lead to fouled plugs.

Also if you are not familiar with your 954 you have a prop rod for the gas tank attached to the bottom of the seat. The guy in the video didn't know about it.

Yeah, the first thing I did was bail out the gas with FI cleaner in it. My battery's putting out some 11.70 volts. Thanks guys. I'll get on that FPR and the injectors ASAP.
