Default Exhuast question

I just bought a 2002 954 with stock exhaust and would like to replace it with a slip-on. If I do this do I need to match it with a power commander or does that depend on what exhaust I purchase? Thanks

you dont really have to add a power commander, cause the truth is.. a power commander alone is useless, so when/if you get one, get it custom tuned right away

Its kinda new to me yet, but i have a Jardine can and a K&N filter and seems to still run great without a powercommander. It runs a bit rich when its cold out but have no fouled plugs or problems, no stalling or burping down low etc.... I am hoping i dont need one down the road but so far so good for me.

k&n without a pc3 = hp loss

k&n with pc3 + custom map= hp gain

exhaust slip on without pc3= possible loss/gain/no effect

exhaust slip on with pc3 + custom map= hp gain

So they are that picky eh? When you say hp loss for example with the K&N and no map i assume its very nominal though?

when you get it tuned it gives you a HP gain and smooths your powerband out so you have a constent accleration till redline, it's worth the money
