Default Dying problem

I noticed tonight when i was leaving the parts store, when i start the bike up and pull in the clutch, and try to put it in first it dies. Anybody know what might be causing this. The bike has barely 2000 miles. Thanks for any advice. Also, it doesnt kick and die, like the clutch may be going out, it just dies.

kick stand down > or poorly adjusted kick stand safety switch you can not have the vehicle running in gear w/ the kick stand down
