Countdown to Launch!

So, the shop said they will be rolling my bike (with the new motor) out of the shop this Friday!

I am so excited I could puke. Of course, there is always a down side and it is BALLS cold now in KY, but I said F**K IT! I'll ride next to Frosty the Snowman if I have to, I DONT CARE! So, to prepare I just bought a brand new ICON CREST MOTORHEAD jacket.

Now, for the question. I just got it via UPS today. I love that new leather smell! However, do I need go ahead and oil this baby down or what? If not, then when? If so, with what?

THANKS! I'm back baby! https://cbrforum.com/image/s2.gif

I dont know lol. I never put any protection on mine, and its held up great. All i did was use some foam on it to soften it up some (its for baseball gloves, to soften and conditon them). Worked great for me, but maybe not the best advice.

Awsome on getting the bike back though, enjoy the hell out of it, just watch for those cold tires.

Welcome back Diablo, just hug the bike she'll keep you warm! As far as the jacket I dont know I ride in wife beaters and unbuttoned button shirts with a tie of course and swimming shorts and flip flops with knee high socks no helmet with contacts as eye pro and a football mouthpiece, I also like to wear latex gloves in case of the road rash and a cool ass michael jordan headband for the sweat in those hot summer days.[sm=happy046.gif" width="100" height="28"> after drinking 9 budlights <img src="https://cbrforum.com/upfiles/smiley/icon_cheers.gif].

But seriously I havent seen it done before, I have a textile jacket and not a leather. My twin and a few friends do have a leather but havent seen it done. I dont see the need to until it has been broken in.

You probably remember this when it happened: http://www.kentuckystatepolice.org/p...pr05_12_06.htm .......they were engaged at the time, very sad. My gf is good friends with the family and hates me owning a bike now.

what did i miss??? I thought you were having some cct noise or needed the valves adjusts and now you have a new motor?

either way good timing, i know in ohio its going to be 60-70s all week so you sound be feelin pretty good down there in ky.

for the leather i would contact the mfg and ask them how to condition it. If there is any that will help it they will point you in the right direction.

I knew I had heard the name, but No, I did not know him. I am from Murray, KY and my wife is frmo Princeton. We had both heard about the accident. It's really a tragedy, man. My heart goes out to his family and friends. People never get over that sort of thing.

Well, I replaced the CCT and the knocking noise in the engine just laughed back at me. I took it to a shop where the mech listened to what it was doing, took off the oil pan, and showed me the huge chunks of metal floating in the oil. I had blown out my crank.

The theory the tech andI concluded was that I wasn't running enough oil to be doing wheelies everywhere I went. Oil ran to the back of the engine and the dry crank ate out the inside of the motor's walls. He educated me that wheelies are perfectly okay, but I needed to be running half a quart full. Therefore, all the oil does not run to the back of the engine when I'm standing it up and that little extra is enough to keep it circulating.

BUT WHO CARES! My baby is coming home tomorrow and we are going to make sweet late-night riding love.

As far as the jacket goes, I am going to hold off for now on the oiling down process. I am going to take your advice and contact the seller to see if they recommend anything.

That is good info bro! Glad to hear it cuz i just started riding out wheelies on my bike, so ill keep that oil level in mind. On the jacket dont contact the seller, contact the mfg, like if its A* call them, if its joe rocket contact them. get straight to the source, they have done tons and tons of research on that crap. They will be able to give you good advice. Have fun riding!!!!
