Default Considering buying a 2002 954

Ok, first of all this is my first post on this forum so hello to all of you. Seems like i have found the right place, lots of knowledge on the CBRs i have already found out

I am looking at a red/black 02 954 with 29000km on the odo. Regularly serviced by Honda dealership and looks good.

The engine has been lighly modified inside, dont know exactly what has been done, but it shows 162 bhp on a graph that comes with the bike. How much of an improvement is this compared to "real" stock values? It has no power commander, would a PC make the ride smoother? I have tried the bike and it feels good, though i do not have any experience with Hondas. I owned a 97 ZX6R many years ago, thats my only experience with bikes.

The bike has been in the tarmac in slow speed, the right plastic got a bit damaged and is beeing repaired and a little scratch on the engine, now covered with a carbon engine cover. That should not be a problem if the bike feels good driving should it?

There was some razzling sounds coming from the dashboard area in some rpms, guess loose screws or something going at eachother. Normal?

Also, when stadning still in 1. gear and clutch engaged, the bike tries tomove a little forward if i rev it over 5000rpm. Problem?

Thanks a lot for any answers on this, or anything else i should look for

Paal

i just traded in my 900RR for an red/black 02 954RR. i got to say ... i love this bike. my 900 was a nice bike there is not a chance in hell it would keep up or come close to the 954. i have the same rattling at some rpm's coming from the windscreen.... no biggie, ill deal with it. i didnt find anything loose. but that doesnt mean that you cant find something alittle loose and be able to fix yours.
as far as it getting dropped i would think if there are no leaks anywhere and its just a cosmetic thing... also no big deal.
it moving a little when in gear and being revved up, could be as simple a thing as a little clutch adjustment. or worst case scenario , need clutch replaced. not terribly expensive or too complicated with a good manual.
so depending on your price .... if its a good deal i'd ****** her up.

i own a red/black 02 954 and let me tell u it rides on rails. Ive owmed many bike but never had a bike handle so well as this. Stock performance is good at 135rwhp and i have a full hindle PCIIIr and K&N and got 143hp and a hole lot of wheelies to boot. Also keep in mind and this is not just the 954 but as well as my buddies gixxer1000 just what yourself well hitting the high #'s over 120mph the front come right up. At first it was scary.. speaking of scary it gets intense in turns too but it you it comes up you know whats happening. oh also i place an HID unit in my lowbeam which is awesome and for real fast riding you need a fastag. my bike has 22,000 mile and still runs very strong and i move on it. Good luck

54s buzz and rattle so to speak, they tend to have a little valve train noise, nothing to worry about. As far as the clutch thing, thats actually somewhat normal as well, mine did that once i put in a performance clutch.

I dont know about over there. What i can tell you is here in the states a 54 goes for about half the cost of a new liter bike. So if thats ballpark for you then go for it.

Wow! bohica! One thing I found out while in Iraq(dont know if it is the same in Norway) is that bikes are pretty expensive except scooters. But cars like BMW's and Benz's are cheap like Kia Rios. Norway just sounds like an expensive country. Havent been there though.
