Default Change the oil and my headlight doesn't work now... This is weird.

I changed my oil lastnight, and just like any other oil change, it went smoothly, nothing out of the ordinary.. I got on my bike and my headlight was on and as I rode down the road it turned off... That was odd, I clicked on the high beams, it comes back on, I turn them off, it stays on for a couple seconds and clicks off.. This is repeated several times till I made it back to my driveway. I have Xentec HID lights with slim ballasts.. It might be the ballast but I'm not even close to being sure. Any ideas??

it's not weird, its un-related. lubricating system and electrical system are UN-related, meaning you could not have possibly done this by changing the oil.

you either knocked something loose depending on where you ran the wires for your HID, you blew a fuse with some said connection, or your ballast went when taking the fairings off

Did you utilize HID approved oil? not a real question. I agree with Conrice on his analysis

Did the oil contain molybdenum?

Ok... I couldn't help myself.

You either knocked a wire loose, or it's totally unrelated. I suppose it could also be the switch going out? I know that light switches sometimes stick. I've seen it. Flip to highs and both lights go out. Flip it a few times real fast and they work great. I don't have hid lights, tho.

I can't say on your specific issue. Shortly after changed to 55w HIDs and put my 35w ballast into my 954 with a new 6000K bulb, never had the problem again. I think it was a cheap bulb in my original kit. Have you tried a new bulb? They're only like $5 for a pair on ebay, it's always good to have spares...
