CBR 954 - O2 sensor?
 

I am just woundering if any cbr 954's come with 02 sensors or not? If not, how does the 954 ecu work for getting optimal afr into the cylinders? I belive without an 02 sensor it would be considered a closed loop ignition/fuel map?

California model 954's come with an 02 sensor. Not sure on your other question.

having an o2 sensor does help fine tune the exhaust. however, that's not the only sensor you use to get a fuel map.

using all the other sensors, the ECU has info on how much air is coming into the motorcycle. while they were developing the ecu, it (the ecu) can adjust for the sensor readings from the MAP, IAT, and what not.


it knows how much air is coming in, so it knows how much fuel it should inject.




still not as accurate as an o2 though, you're right. that's why most of the new tuning stuff utilizes the o2 sensor

get a dyno-tune - they'll stick an o2 sensor in your exhaust and tune it up just right.




if you go from the mountains to the coast - sea level (like out west) you'd need a pcV or something that could "on the fly" change the fueling - based on your o2 readings.


but a cali model wouldn't be able to change the tune enough to benefit.

yah, a dyno tune would be useless without a fuel/ign controller though eh

o2 sensors are just for emissions, it doesn't adjust the WOT fuel. Some ECM's may use saved fuel trim data to add a multiplier at WOT, but it's still not using the 02's at WOT. If you want to tune your bike, you need a wide band 02 sensor.

The only thing a narrow band 02 sensor will read at WOT is rich or .8-.9 volts, it doesn't actually know how rich.
