Question Cbr 954

So I have my very first inquiry, lol. I'll start by telling ya'll that I owned a CBR 600 back in 2006-2008 and it was amazing. I loved that thing so much, but then my ex totaled it I have had financial struggles since and haven't really been able to afford a real motorcycle. I have been riding mopeds since.. went from a 50cc to a 150cc and now I currently ride a 650cc. I really miss my CBR and have been deeply considering a 954. I have heard so much, all good, about this bike. What do you guys think?

The 954 is a great bike. It's bigger and not as nimble as the 600rr, but will have more power at lower rpms. I think they have better style and comfort, but that's just my opinion. If you can physicality fit on it, i wouldn't think twice about getting one.

I had the privilege of sitting on one at least not too long ago, and it felt good. I almost started crying because of how my much i miss my 600, but I was smaller back then and am a bigger gal now so I'd kinda need something bigger. I need a cbr in my life again, lol

Have you found one that you're looking at? They are getting harder to find these days. They all seem to be priced really high or they are completely trashed.

I have found a few via FB Marketplace, OfferUp and letgo and they are all in good condition and priced good too.. I've also seen some 929rr's too. What's the difference, if there is any really..lol

And there are definitely more of the 929rr bikes around for $2,500 to $3,000..in that window at least..both look great and both have positive reviews.. so could I go wrong either way?

They are similar, but very different. Either would do you well...

Should I get into all the little tech stuff that makes them different?

If you feel up to it, I know for one thing that is like the front wheel to stay down, at least for now, lol

Think of the 954 as a step from the 929 to the 1000rr. The 929 was the first 900 with fuel injection. That early design was improved on for the 954 (faster ECU and better injectors), then that was improved on for the 1000rr. Same with the frame and swing arm. The 954 shares the same swing arm as the early 1000. The seat and body have some changes to "improve" areo. There were slight engine changes from the 929 (lighter pistons, cam lobe timing, larger throttle bodies, as well as being a hair bigger in displacement). Throw in some updated wiring and misc parts and the 954 was born. All these "improvements" (most probably not that noticeable for the regular street rider) were scrapped in the later years for the always improving 1000rr. By todays standard, the 929 and 954 are crude and outdated. After all, they are almost 20 years old now.....

The downside of the 954 was that was when the trunk started getting smaller, eventually it disappeared with the 1000. The 929 has a great trunk (hols 2 bottles of wine, tool bags, extra gloves, and some emergency gear) yet is more streamlined from the old 900rr. I love that I don't need to ride my 929 with a backpack for daily riding becauce I have the room to carry layers of clothing that I've peeled off.

Both good bikes.

So it sounds like I'd favor the 929 more then (with it's trunk space. Be nice to ride without backpack if I didn't have too) it would be my daily commuter plus going to bike nights and riding around with friends. But I don't think I'd be able to go wrong with either. I definitely appreciate the advice and I will be posting a pic of whichever one I decide to get.
