Default Blown Fork Seal

Changed my front tire yesterday and realized the one of my forks is leaking. If I ride around on this thing for another 1-2k and then do it, will I hurt anything? I was thinking of taking the bike in for the 20k valve job and having them do the fork seal also. Am I in danger of the thing completely blowing out on me or will I be ok?

aight check it out, yeah u can ride round wit it blown. i rode around forawhile cuz i didnt want my bike at the shop wit a blown fork seal. its gonna be a sh*tty ride, your gonna get alotta responses to this thread sayin "replace it now!" but ur not in danger as long as ur not goin 160mph. i rode wheelies, rolled stoppies, cornered, and hit high speeds on a blown fork seal. yeah get it fixed as soon as u can but to answer ur question you will be alright.

About two weeks after i bought my 954 i noticed the front left fork leaking. As the guy before me posted you can still ride it but wipe off excess oil between rides because when it gets too thick it gets on the tire and may cause a low side. I think when i had them replace both front fork seals at the shop it was only like 260 bucks.

I've gone a long time on a blown seal. Just don't go crazy it does affect the handling. Get it fixed when you do the valve job.

are there some special tools that I need? I'd like to learn how to do it myself. I've never done one. I'm pretty good at turning a wrench. Do you guys think I should attempt to do it myself or just take the dam thing in? Has anyone done one before?
