Blinking digital clock

Blinking digital clock
Hi - first post here, so please go easy! Sadly it's a troubleshooting question I have that someone here may know the answer to.
Whenever I start the bike up, the digital clock blinks as 01:00. Not just the hour, not just the minute, but the entire "01:00"
I've held both buttons in to try and set the clock, but it doesn't work. If you press just the A button, it changes the odometer a-b (as it is supposed to) and holding it down it resets the odo (as it is supposed to). If you press the B button, it swaps the display of the fuel economy and the kmh or mph (as it is supposed to).
So both buttons work, but I can't get the clock to be set.
All other functions of the clocks seem to work/be fine. I've checked the fuse, and all seems good there.
Any ideas?
Cheers and TIA

Dont try to set the clock with the bike running, just turn the key. Its a little tricky but press them both togather. A button should be to select hour or min and the B button should change the time. Might be backwards tho. After your done setting it to the time you want just sit there and wait. It takes a little bit of time. Again the only way i have been able to do it was it the engine not running.

no more blinking 1:00 I finally have a clock that works
I bought my 2002 CBR954 in 2008 and had the blinking 1:00 ever since. I had tried the owners manual and always lost the time. I guess they should have mentioned waiting in the manual. Now I finally can ditch the old wrist watch on the handlebars because of this forum. I wish I would have looked 2 years ago. You can see how much this bothered me to still try again after this long.
