I have a 2002 954 that I just recently purchased. It came with a Erion Racing bolt on exhaust and a PC3. not sure if it has a filter or not. I was looking into getting an Akrapovic full exhaust system. Is it worth the money? If the akro straight headers and deleting the stock exhaust servo is going to eliminate some of the down low torque/throttle response. Im not sure I even want to bother getting this full exhaust. How can I expect my 954 to respond to this full system with the PC3 map adjusted. Thanks

 

it would respond beautifully. don't worry about losing anything down low. remember, that's below 4k rpms. a) you should hardly be riding there. b) when you are in that rpm range, you're either quickly out of it into the mid and upper - or you don't need any hp at all. c)you should never roll on WOT from a low rpm

so don't worry about the down low hp. you wouldn't really notice it. the motor wasn't designed to ever be ridden there. our pistons have hella short skirts - and they need inertia from the rpms in order to stay straight inside the cylinder.

especially with a PC, they can smooth out all the fueling. and if you did feel like your rpms are too low for cruising around town, you could back the gearing down with a -1/+2 kit at it'd take you even more out of the low rpms.


a good thing to do would be to wait for a used full system to pop up on ebay. you can get an incredible deal that way and save some money. just my .02

Do you know if anyone here would have a good professional custom tune they could email me, that would work great with my bike with a bmc race filter, pc3, and full akrapovic? I know I used to be on a zx10 forum a while ago and it was a couple guys floating around with great custom tunes for other members that they got for their bikes from a very reputable tuner.
