PHXf4i, Support your vote for the RC-51. What about the RC-51 do you prefer? Have you been on the CBR954 as well as the Ducati 748?
I'm not knockin' you. Just hoping you would explain your vote for the RC-51.
I own an RC-51 as well as a 954 now and have ridden the 748. I was going to buy one not to long ago. I was VERY dissapointed in the 748. I have ridden the 996R and what a far cry fronm the litre bike twins. If you ride a 250 the comparison may be close. The 748 will handle like a champ. But you will be most impressed witht he RC. I have learned that the 954 is very light upfront when looking for top end and very twitchy in the corners like my R1 and R6. So steering damper is a must for the 954. I have a HyperPro on mine.
So in a nutshell,
First: RC-51
Second: 954
Third: 748
i have to say that my 954is the best handling bike i ever owned...i have a friend witha a 999 and i spank his *** in the twisties and he cant even touch me in the top end...

Life is short. Get one of each.

I've always had a duc in the garage. At the times when I only had a duc, I was missing an in-line fours agility in the turns. Desmo Quatro ducs need attention like a stripper girlfriend...and thats going to cost you. Now the 2 valves are quite easy to live with. like the girl next door. I've got a jones on for the Hypermotard.

The RC is a great sounding and beautiful twin that carries its weight well. You only really notice it in flip-floppy roads like we have here in the mountains of western NC. And you have to be running a brisk pace before that gets too obvious.

Happy hunting.

If you like stunting the 954 is good. Otherwise, I do not agree with popular opinion. My 954 feels crappy in the twisties compared to the 1000rr. I assume other bikes probably handle better also.

install a penske or ohlins rear shock and revalve/respring your forks, then the 1000rr will feel crappy in the twisties compared to your 954!!!
the 954 forks where cutting edge tec at the time, added 1 adjustment over the previous model-but production was sloppy at best-tune the sh*t out and you will have a new bike!!Name: thumbup.gif

just remember the spring rates are increased on newer model sportbikes!!!,that 1000rr that you rode is also not properly tuned-correct
spring rates set to the riders weight is everything!-if you want your bike to perform, get this sh*t done!!
also, the new model r1 is using the same style rear set-up as the 954-this bike is not out-dated,by any means-yes,the hp is lower then
the new models-but i am convinced that with proper suspension set-up and proper riding skills-the 954 will be a valid/awesome bike
for many years!!
