954 question

hey people...just got a 02 954 about 2 weeks ago...there was a chain sound of slappin and we figured my cam chain tensioner was bad....took it out and it was all locked up. ..so glad that was done...but now riding in first gear....i have a weird sound coming from the back....my friend told me my cush drive rubbers looked like they were worn out or looked pretty beat up....you think i need to replace the rubber pieces? what damage could be caused from it? what could happen from those rubber peices going bad? should i replace those 5 or 6 rubber peices or go and buy the rubber pieces and a cush drive sprocket?

RE: 954 question

I'm not sure how in the hell you wear out the rubbers.......but I guess anything is possible. If you are hearing it in first gear............then you are hearing the gears..........the are straight cut so they whine....when you let off the gas for instance.....it will whine. It's the tranny. And it's fine. All bikes that are fairly new...(after ........hell a long time ago). have straight cut gears.

RE: 954 question

theres only one thing i could see happenin if you do not replace the rubber pieces inside the hub, i can see your hub spinnin of ur wheel and tearin your inner swingarm to ****. trust me ive had an experience wit the hub, got a tire change and one of the spacers was not put on so i keep hearin a knockin sound in which the hub was fallin outta the wheel and peelin metal off of my swingarm. luckly enough as soon as i started to hear the knockin i pulled right over and saw the hub fallin off. hope this helps ya bro

RE: 954 question

ya...well we lubed the chain up like a week ago..and redid it last night...and the sound seems to go away...my friend told me after looking at my bike i guess the guy before placed some kinda headers on it that are thin...so i am hearing more of the valves and all...normally think when i start up my bike i hear a tinging and clickin...so i let it warm for a few minutes..give it some gas and the sound i dont hear as much....i did just replace the cam cahin tentioner..the old one was locked up
