from 954 to 1000 rr High speed shake
Friday I picked up my new 06 Cbr 1000rr. At first the power felt weak compared to the 954. But then the front end started lifting off the ground at about half throttle. The power band is more constant and in a way feels weaker but it tricks you. I sold my 954 to my brother and today we decided to take it on some high speed runs. I got my 1000 up to 160 before i let off and my brother said at 140 the steering started shaking on the 954. My question is whether he needs a steering damper or if there is something else wrong with his bike (wheel balance, Etc.) I myself dont know as the fastest i ever took it was 130 and i never encountered this problem. My 1000 at 160 wasnt shaking at all but it has that HESD thingey.

Thanx man i think he was just chicken. He went from a harley V Rod to that 954. I drag raced him a few times he would launch at 6000 rpm with no worry of poppin it up. When we would hit about 40 i would shoot past him. The harley weighs about 700 pounds so he would get a better launch. But by the time we hit 40 i was flying by him after i set my wheel down.

193mph i highly doubt that but the 929 and 954 are notorious for needing steering dampers.

Not to speak for anyone but i think he is doubting the 193 mph part. Anyhow mine gets a bit shaky at times above 140 or so, it lightens up and gets a lil shaky, but these bike have been known not to be the most stable at high speeds. I also have a dampner for what its worth.
