RE: 1krr radiator on the 954
the tabs do not line up,
Icut the tabs off the busted 954 radiator, cleaned them up & had them wielded in the proper place
then made the bottom bracket, so it fit right up next to the headers.
the hoses require minor modification, make sure you get all the hoses for the 1k & keep the 54 hoses you will use both
seal off theair bleedhose going to the thermostat w/ some high temp stuff, the 1k does not have the air bleed hose
the fill cap is much higher on the 1k, requiring modification to the plastics on that side,
the radiator drops down farther, into the lower fairings, requiring mod there, very easy here, just cutting away where it touches
the very small increase in rake/trail on the 1k, putting the wheel just that c-hair closer to the radiator,
probably will go unnoticed & was until I put a *** radiator guard on then tried to out brake someone on the track, enough to lift the rear off the ground,
put the tyre into the guard & tore up the guard, leaving the radiator all but untouched
I have since bought a Attack triple clamp which should eliminate the flex that put the tyre into it
but I am not sure if I will put another guard on the radiator
so, is it worth it?
it does look & perform slightly better,
but probably not

RE: 1krr radiator on the 954
I have only been to the track w/ it since, it does seem to run a little cooler, once I get on the street again I will be able to tell better
it doesn't hold much more coolant, just has a much bigger surface area.
the Attack triple I got is for the 1k, I seems to have a lot more clearance, between the tyre & rad, so I will prob get another rad guard
I can getoffsets to adjust trail, if I want to pull it back in.
I will take some pics soon

If you are trying to get your bike to run cooler why not hook up and extra fan or wire a switch to your existing fan that will keep it on all the time. I really dont see a need to put a bigger radiator in a 954. 1krr radiator isbigger and therefore it would beheavier when filled with coolant (if weight even matters). I have seen a few bikes now with 2 fans.

i dun think hooking up a extra fan will be more effective then a larger radiator . bigger surface will draw out more heat compare to a small area. And by adding a extra fan will have your bike running with a extra load .cooler engine means better performance of your ride so what i see is that by gaining that little weight still ok.

I think someone already talked about it not holding more fluid,
something about a bigger surface area
not sure who it was...
I will be getting the bike ready for a track day tommorrw
I'll snap a few pics & throw 'em up
