03 954 power commander

Hi I have had a couple 954's in my day but they have always been stock. This one I bought a full exhaust for it and suggests to use a power commander to remap the fuel and air and all that. Has anyone bought the new power commander 5 with the auto tune ? Opinions ? And if I do buy the 5 and the auto tune, is there anything else I will need to purchase with it that I may be missing ?

IMHO, you'd be better off finding a used pciii USB or pciii-r and getting a custom tune on a dyno.

The reason being that while the concept of the PC V auto tune is awesome, you can't use the auto tune function all of the time. People that have are coming away with incorrect tunes and fouled O2 sensors.

Plus, on a dyno, you can take your time tuning and using the whole throttle and RPM range, unlike the auto tune function, where it'd be hard to do WOT tuning, high speed tuning, etc on an open road.

What is a going rate of dyno runs and custom tunes ? I am new to All of this. All my bikes have always been stock performance wise.

Depends on where you are and who you go to.

Here in Southern California, they run about $250-$300.

I just don't have easy access to a dyno shop around me

Whereabouts are you located?

Does anyone know of a Power commander tuning centre in southern Ontario? The one I was planning to go to has closed. The next closest one to me is almost 3 hours away.

I'd expect anyone that does cars/bikes should be able to do it for you? I'm going down that route myself shortly, mine runs very rich on whatever map was installed
