I use the bike a lot on the highway and it tends to flatten out the middle of the tire before the rest of it. i've heard about the tires that have two different kinds of rubber, a harder one in the middle and softer on the outside. I was just wondering if anyone out there had used these kinds of tires and which is the best one to get. I don't want to sacrifice the amount of traction i get in the twisties. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. i haven't had a bike in over a year and just got this one and i know that new stuff comes out all the time.

unfortunately you can't have your cake and eat it too. If you want a harder compound tire you're going to sacrifice some traction. Try to Michelin Pilot Road or Sport HPX. Both have harder compound than the Pilot Powers, PP 2CT's, and Dunlop Qualifiers.

If you're doing mostly highway riding right now I'd venture to say that the dual compound tires available to you aren't going todo anything for you in terms of how fast they wear in the middle, unless you're already running a DOT race/track tire like a Pirelli Supercorsa Pro or Metzler Racetek etc. You'd stillgetabout the same wear in the middle since these aren't like super duper hard in the middle and then supersoft on the sides.
It's always a bit of a compromise and depends on you're riding style but for overall combined stick-ability and wear-ability on the street I like the Pilot Powers myself. Do a google and you can read reviews on these.

hey jc imma give u the perfect tire for alot of travel, its inexpensive and u dont sacrafice that much traction(just takes a lil longer to warm up). i couldnt burn this tire out quick enough, the rubber wouldnt come off! check into the "conti-force" tires.
