How is the 929 for the track.Compared to a r6 or gixxr750.

in its day, the 929 was a winning endurance racer. the gsx750 and the r6 are both better sprint bikes, and you can argue that the gsx750 is the best production track bike of all time (give or take a tzr yammy ;-) )
however the biggest factor is the rider. if you are new and you are doing track days, then choose the one that has the best price -- they are all superb.
if you want to go racing, go talk to your local club members and find out what is the most active class and join that. even if that means sv650s. it will be more important to have support when you are just starting out than anything else.
hope this helps.

RKA...
Although I didn't buymy 929 with the track in mind it hasbecome my current track machine. It has plenty of grunt on the straight bits and handlesthecornering very well, if you have your suspension setup right and the right tires of course.
I've ridden 929's on the track with both stock and upgraded suspension components and both handled very well, though I will say the stock bike experience was at Laguna Seca where the track is so smooth you don't need Ohlins, on more bumpytracks I don't really know if you'd be happy. Some guys scrape the case covers at full lean on 929's since they do stick out a bit though I've had no problems with that, only some scrapes on the lower plastics. I suspect they're doing that more on cornerberms.
My personal opinion is that if I were goingout to get a bike specifically for the track I'd go with the GSXR750over a 929. It would be more flickable in corner transitions, the seat is narrower so easier to hang off then the broad seat on the 929 and it has a slipper clutch (ok, the newer ones). Though you'd haveplenty of fun on a 929, it all depends on what level you're seeking.
I've got a video ofa track day on my 929 at http://www.backroadborders.com/thunderhill.wmv
that may give you some feel for being on a 929 at the track. It's at Thunderhill in Willows, CA.

RE: track bike
GPG can you see difference between 954 and 929 swingarm?
How much is weight difference?
And what happen suspension linkage ratio?
Do you have try dan kyle linkage whit original swingarm?
I think too 1000rr front fork, but isn't it much lower?
Last summer i have huge problem whit ground clearance, but then i change WP rear suspension and rise it 5mm.
Front fork i drop 4mm down to upper tripple up face. (Front is now about 7mm higher than original)
And i use 190/55 rear tire.
Biggest modification is my self. Now i try to push my body down on track.
Now i don't have any problem whit ground clearance.
There you have some question, sorry my english.
ps. if somebody have used dan kyle linkage, then mail me.
