Default Is there a cheaper way to change the oil??

I looked before I posted, but didnt find anything... A quart of oil for these bikes are around $15. I read you can use diesel synthetic oil... Is this true? What alternatives are there to spending so much? Its not a huge deal, but I'm kinda pressed for cash, but at the same time I'm not going to use an oil that will eventually harm the engine. Any Ideas?

Mobil one full synthetic runs about $9 per quart? Last time I purchase it. No where near the $15 mark....Lucas full synthetic runs about $60 for 6 quart......HP4 is fairly cost effective....now Amsoil & royal purple will eat thru your wallet.

rotella t synthetic is about $5/ quart. get it at walmart. your 929 uses a car filter, pretty cheap. the engine will run on any oil, but the clutches are very sensitive. there are hundreds of threads on this subject...

Hey...Castrol 4T semi-blend is not bad either....changing oil (any 4T) when due...is better than not changing at all....when oils get old they break down and loose their lubricant therefore cause friction & heat...big no no...like 74demon said...Rotella!!!! But I think Auto Zone does sell some Castrol for similar cost $5/quart

go to autozone or discount auto parts. valvoline 10w40 conventional motorcycle oil $4.99 a quart for i4 sportbikes

my 954 runs great with it - 23k miles and counting. i don't ride easy either. i don't use a clutch on upshifts.

their synthetic is under $10 a quart. its a lil smoother. i use it when i have the cash, which isn't often, but it lasts a lil longer.

i've had repsol and other expensive brands in other bikes ---- all i've come up with is that there is no difference. especially not for the money

Geez, guys. Do NOT use regular automotive motor oil in a motorcycle unless you like riding around with lots of clutch slippage. If it says "Energy Conserving" on the label stay away from it. Anything that has the JASO-MC specification on it is okay to use.

BTW, Honda GN4 motorcycle oil is about $5/qt from several online sources plus no sales tax and free shipping to your front door.
