Dont know if you guys have seen it or not but there is a pretty good write up on the 929 in the nov issue of super streetbike mag, they are doing a comparison to the '08 cbr 1000 stock vs a modded 929 they say alot of good things about how well the 929 keeps up in certain areas, if you get a chance check it out its a good read.

 

Gonna have to pick that up...

My friend had the 07 1000rr and we raced from a roll in 2nd to 3/4 of 6th gear 4 times in a row... every time we were dead even until we shifted 6th. He would instantly jump about 3-4 bike lengths then we would stay even again, and im about 100lbs heavier then he is.

And as for cornering, he loved the way his 07 handled, then he rode my 929 and was like WOW, so much more effortless to lean and switchback

i picked up the magazine a couple of weeks ago and thought your compairing a 929 with just a full exhaust and a power commander to a 2008 1000rr and you call that modified?

what about the other goodies available?
ignition advance kit
factory pro short velocity stacks
aftermarket filter(bmc race)
hard racings ram-air kit(or custom)
porting the head
milling the head or replacing with a thinner gasket
titanium valves(the most expensive)
lightweight piston (not over bored)
degreed cams
954 throttle boddies and injectors


now compair that to the 1000rr!

the other thing is they didnt talk numbers, the only performance number that were mentioned were that the 1000rr had about 25hp on the 929 and that the 929 would hang with the 1000rr up until 100mph

 

The bike in question is actually my bike, I’ve owned it since new. Due to time and space constraints the article couldn’t elaborate more on my mods but they are as followed:

Powdercoated and polished stock wheels
And some other Misc stuff.


The bike dyno’d 148.xx at the wheel on a local dyno, which isn’t saying much since all dynos differ. I’ve pulled first Gen Gixxer 1s, older R1s and my share of other older big bikes. For what it is, it runs great. When compared to a new 1000 it’s a little soft but none-the-less it’s paid for and as time has gone on you don’t see too many clean ones anymore.


Until I can afford something more the ol' girl will just have to do.

Thanks man, though my 929 is gettin' on in years I still love it. I used to be realyl active over on Fireblades.org and happen to stumble on this today-I don't think I'll be leaving anytime soon
