Default Sprocket Change

I just picked up a 2000 929 CBR and it seems to be geared real low. The rear sprocket has 55 teeth on it. The bike screams when I am on the highway. I don't really know how fast i am going, but I figure it is about 200km at 11,000 RPM. I would like to know what tooth count a stock sprocket is for the bike and if anybody knows what a slight mod from stock would be, or if anybody has found a decent combo for the bike. Thanks

i have an '01 929 and im sure there the same. Stock it come with 16 teeth on the front and 43 on the rear. I have gone with a 15 and 43 setup just for a little extra torque. I didnt want to be screaming on the highway or kill my mileage cause I do a lot of commuting. But I still wanted that little boost for when Im out playin.

I have the same setup as Hooligan, and it works well for me. Picks the front up when I want it to pretty easily. I went ahead and bought a Speedohealer as well to correct the 11% that mine was off after the mod. Yours must be outragiously off!!! LOL That was probably a stunt bike, so never saw the highway.

Mike + Hooligan
How much different is the feeling of your bike from stock? How much does it change your mpg? Speedometer?

Thanks

Last question already answered....11%

Feeling is a lot better in first three gears. Don't mess with 1st...it's crazy, lol

I don't know about the MPG. I know I run at about 500 more rpms at 70-75 mph

I average just under 40 mpg. Depending of course aggressiveness and highway versus city. I love 1st gear I think its a riot but you gotta be ready for it cause it could easily kick your ***. I never rode it with stock gearing but it feels good in all gears. Like I think I said before I do a lot of highway commuting and I can cruise all day at 80 comfortably.

Thanks guys, I will probably go with the same set-up I found the RK Quick Acceleration kit. FITS MODEL: CBR929RR 00-01, CHAIN: 520GXW-108, OEM GEARING: 16-43, QUICK ACCELERATION GEARING: 15-43

It is cheaper then if I go with the stock set-up... about $170

But I will be waiting a bit I want to see how much more I can milk the chain I have with 17,000 miles. I picked up the grunge brush today

If I were you I'd stick with the 530 pitch it will last alot longer than the 520 pitch.Yes change your sprockets to 15-43 but stay with the 530 size.

Stock sprockets:

U.S.- 16/43

Anywhere else- 16/42

15/45 works well and I am very impressed with this setup
