questions about an 01 929 *PICS*
i just bought a cheap as 929 that doesnt run. after tearing into it a little bit, ive narrowed it down (i think). here are my questions about this bike:
1. where does the servo mount on this bike? it is just hanging down right now.
2. where does the below connector connect to and what is it for? i THINK it might to recharge the batter, but i dont know where to plug it up at.
this is where it goes. into (what i believe is) the top of the stator cover.

The one with three yellow wires goes to alt(behind stator cover)The 2 green and orange should go (if not mistaken) to regulator/rectifier.Which on my 954 is located behind left rear cowl.Servo motor goes above stator side.If the servo motor does not have the wires to control the valves, just attach it anywhere and you should be fine.Hope this helps.I also suggest you get a service manual if you don't already have one.

Because the cable housings are attached to the servo motor, it doesn't need to be mounted specifically to operate correctly. As long as the cables are going to the exhaust valve it can just be bolted/tied to something. If you want to eliminate the valve from the exhaust you just turn it to the middle position and weld it in place. Then remove the cables from the servo and let the servo hang. By leaving it plugged in, the ecu thinks everything is ok and doesn't throw an FI light. You will have to get a power commander and re-map the fueling if you do that.
