Purchasing a 929rr Erion
I am fairly new to bikes, I learned to ride years ago, but haven't ridden much in the past few years. One of my close friends, wants to sell his 2001 929rr, and I told him I would consider buying it off him.
I currently have it in my garage, and am curious as to what to look for. It has 31k or 34k miles, too lazy to go check.
Thanks for the help, here is a pic

He told me he took good care of the bike, never dropped etc. I asked about service records and he said, and I quote "I serviced the **** out of the bike" haha. He then listed all the recent services. Month old oil filter and oil. 800mi on front tire, 1500 on back, etc etc. can't remember all he said.
The one cosmetic problem he said it had, was that someone broke into the seat compartment, and the rear fairing is slightly loose now. So he say's i would have to purchase a new rear fairing for it.
He was planning on selling it for $3,500 but he said he would sell it to me for $2,000 as long as I let him ride it once in a while (he also has an R1). Also with money being tight, he told me I could pay him in increments.
He is a Helluva friend

2k if in good mech condition, is a STEAL! Def do it! :-)
Kudos for signing up for the MSF course. We def recommend it. You'll learn good basic technique & safety. Then you can build on that in safe & responsible manner to b/c a good rider. Plus, the course will get you a small discount on your insurance.
