Spoolless is the obvious answer, but my spoolless stand scratched my nice powder coated swing arm and it now needs to be powder coated AGAIN.

if you weld onto the bottom of the existing swingarm, then you'll have offset spools...

Lockhart Phillips makes 8mm inserts that can be drilled into the swingarm. It is either in the tutorial section, or at www.cbrworld.net

It will not weaken your swingarm.

On a side note, the 954 swingarm if used with the 929 links will lower the swingarm by an inch or so. If you use the 954 link plates, it sits at the same level. I did this to mine, and the ride height is identical.

I have a question about stands and the 929- will any of the spool-less stands work or does it have to be specifically for the 929? I'm wanting to get one of the "universal" type that lifts from the bottom of the swingarm. What is your opinion on this type? Thanks in advance!
