PAIR Valve Mod??
So I was told by a friend of mine that you can add 7-10 HP by doing a PAIR Valve Mod by basically blocking off the hot air that comes into the intake box? Anyone ever heard of doing this, and how hard was it?
he basically told me that all I need is a large enough marble, put it into the hose that brings hot air into the Pair Valve, and I get more HP.. Or I can aquire PAIR Valve block off plates? Anyone know where I could get a pair of these and how much, or has anyone tried the marble trick and used it? Thanks in advance! |
RE: PAIR Valve Mod??
So easy a caveman could do it.
http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/5...cavemanvb5.jpg It took about 10 minutes... and I spent under 10 bucks.. Lookey Lookey: http://www.stuntlife.com/forums/443-...-my-636-a.html |

RE: PAIR Valve Mod??
I did mine with block off plates and removed the useless parts... I really doubt you'd see any HP gains but I have not wasted dyno time to test the theory.. The only gain I could see is that if I tune a power commander I would have a cleaner reading without the excess fumes from the case... There can't possible be weight reduction like some say and if so it's in the grams...

what about the elterticla plug on the pair that goes to the harness dose that stay conected or do u disconect it >>?? will any lights come on>?

I'd like to know this too. I just ordered a set of plates and plan to do the mod in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

bringing it back from the dead. no horsepower gain. just makes bike run smoother when getting cutom tuned..

Thanks for the input. I figured that would be the case with the results.
Does anyone know if it's OK to disconnect the connector for the PAIR system, or will this throw a code?? I'm hoping to get this done this weekend. Thanks! |
You can unplug the pair mod without it throwing any light. This past winter I was runnin my valves and decided to eliminate the pair system. I just made 2 plates from some 1/4 in. aluminum. and removed the valve. and hoses. I used a rubber cap and slid that over the nipple on the air box to keep out any foreign debris and safety wired it so it couldnt slide off. Like everyones said you dont get any horsepower gains. It just gives a more accurate reading when getting your bike dyno tuned. If you dont eliminate the pair valve and are going to get your bike tuned it is a good idea to just pinch off the 2 hoses right at the cam cover to get the more accurate readings.

OK, thanks Hooligan. However, I left the valve in since I wasn't sure. I just removed all of the hoses and plugged all of the openings. I guess next time I'm in there under the airbox, I'll remove the valve all the way. First time I had ever checked my valves. It was definitely and all day job for a first timer like me, but all-in-all it wasn't too bad.
